Burst Couch Autumn Season:

In a sudden, uncharacteristic splurge of activity we are pleased to announce not one but three Burst Couch events in September and October, starting on Wednesday 28th Sept. Please look here for more details.

New Releases:

We can now confidently and joyously announce the imminent release of not one but three CDRs from Disco Operating System. The first, probably entitled 'Preston Guild' is a new album recorded exclusively at two performances in Preston, Lancs in late 2004 & early 2005. The other two are CD re-releases of cassette albums released by other labels some years back. 'Love in an Alligator' was released by the Baboon label in 2001 and the potentially entitled 'Royal Ordnance' was released by the highly respected oTo label in 2002. Both have been mildly re-mastered from the original digital recordings and offer an insight into the earlier, more rhythmic works of Disco Operating System. These recordings will make their official debut the Burst Couch#16 (see above) and more details will have appeared on the website by then.

Photos:

We've placed a few old photos from some of the first Burst Couch events, and even the old RSI 'Rotations' nights here.

28/06/05

Well it's been a while since our last update, due to various housemove & internet connection problem type issues, but we now seem to be back on the straight & narrow, fingers crossed.

The next Burst Couch event takes place on 23rd July as part of the Futuresonic festival EVNT showcase. Please click on the link above for more details.

The two events listed below - 'Intergration' and our presentation for the Chorlton Arts Festival both went smoothly, enjoyably and succesfully. There are pics from both events on our images page.

Adrian Ball & Gareth Bibby (aka Hollowsphere & Disco Operating System) are performing at this year's Chorlton Arts Festival, in Chorlton Cum Hardy, Manchester, at St Clements Church, St Clements Road (off Edge Lane), Chorlton on Thursday 26th May. Here's the blurb we gave them:

"Live manipulation of video images and sounds sourced from in and around Chorlton from Hollowsphere and Lotta Continua. To be mixed with other abstract sources to create and all-enveloping experience both relevant to and distanced from the locality".

John Peel - 1939-2004:

We at Lotta Continua have been deeply shocked and saddened by the news of the untimely death of John Peel. He was one in a million and shall be very sorely missed. The cause for new and underground music in Britain, and worldwide, has lost arguably it's finest and most humble champion. Our condolences go out to Sheila and his family. RIP John.

Review of LC 001 & 002 in September issue of The Wire:

.....Lotta Continua is another start-up label with clear-eyed confidence to slide a couple of extra zeroes into their catalogue numbers, and it's hard not to love them for it. There's a certain purity to the way these first two releases come packaged in uniform edition. Gareth Bibby, aka Disco Operating System, follows up his debut album 'You Don't....' with a neatly segmented flow of thoughtful electronic abstractions that make a good play for your attention. With Ocean Almanac, Dave Clarkson, aka Illuminati, heads into choppier waters after his 'Searching For A New Land'. Things are kept taught and tense on this voyage. Except for on the breezily buoyant "Bouvet Oya-Frozen Island", featuring WJ Clarkson on vibraphone, this is about the vicissitudes of morality. (quote from Bill Shakespeare on sleeve) Here's to the first 100 releases." - Ken Hollings
